A Legend has passed
Pete Anderson, Pacific District Referee in Chief 1985-1998 has passed away.
Everyone has a Pete Anderson story, many humorous but mostly stories about Pete's total dedication to USA Hockey Officiating.
At just about any period in time one could go to Pete's house and find two or three Officials living there while going to school or passing through the area from their home town to better their Officiating opportunities. His somewhat stern but fair and accurate views were always at hand.
He sat on countless committees from Rules to operation manuals, Pete helped write the books. His accomplishments go on and on.
During his tenure numerous Officials have had opportunities at higher levels that they may not have had if not for Pete. Dennis LaRue and Tommy Kowal are excellent examples of his tutoring, both in the NHL. Casey Jorgenson, USA Hockey Legal Council is a direct product of Pete's encouragement and training, and the list goes on and on.
Pacific District has since 1999 awarded the prestigious "Pete Anderson Award" to the person who shows outstanding dedication to Officiating within the Pacific District each year.
Services for Pete will be in Stanwood, Washington on December 1, 2011.
